As a hypnotherapist, my vision is to help people to help themselves overcome matters of the mind. It may be anxieties, phobias, stress, trauma, behavioral disorders or even just the immediate recovery from bad habits such as smoking. Passion drives my practice, and compassion gives it purpose. All these mental matters are actually not obstacles, but rather achievable goals. Through the breakthrough and proven techniques of hypnotherapy, you can and will achieve these goals and improve the quality of your life.

Is it safe?

Hypnosis is a very powerful means to effective, fast and lasting therapy.  However, hypnosis is the same as any other tool; in the right hands and when used in the right way, hypnotherapy is very safe and comfortable.  Moreover, there are codes of conduct to adhere to, which are enforced by the certifying bodies.  A similar question that may illustrate this point is, whether a medical scalpel is safe?  A scalpel can be a dangerous tool, but in surgery, a scalpel when used by a trained medical professional will save lives.

Contrary to common belief, we are not born with phobias.  Phobias are 'learnt', maybe via traumatic events etc.  The same way phobias can be learned via suggestion, phobias can also be unlearned via suggestion during hypnotherapy.  Such is the potency of suggestion, and the power of suggestion during hypnosis.  However, not all issues are the result of past events, and the root cause of the issue may be further uncovered via hypnotherapeutic techniques only should the need arise.  However, such analytical approaches are more time consuming and not always necessary, and instead of analytical approaches, in such instances treatment via hypnotherapy techniques such as neuro-linguistic and behavioural approaches is proceeded immediately with much success.
"Hypnosis in and of itself is not at all dangerous.  The only possible danger is in the misuse  of suggestion.  The responsible and adequately trained hypnotherapist, through judicioius use of appropriate suggestion, will avoid any difficulty in his or her use of hypnosis" John C. Hughes, The Induction of Conviction.

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind.  Examples of such a state include being absorbed in reading a book or watching television to the point of not being aware of the surroundings.  The induced hypnotic state during therapy is similar.  The hypnotic state is not permanent and there has never been a case of anyone being stuck in a hypnotic state.  In fact, the hypnotic state is a state of increased-awareness, as such people are capable of coming out of hypnosis naturally during times of emergency.  A patient in hypnosis will also come out of hypnosis at their own time, if not formally awakened.  It is also important to note that often patients refuse to come out of trance because it is such a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable state of mind.  A few minutes in trance can actually feel as invigorating as a few hours of relaxing deep sleep.

In fact all hypnosis can be said to be self-hypnosis.  The relationship between the hypnotherapist and client is a collaborative partnership, with the common therapeutic goal.  Such is the relationship that at all times, the client will remain in control, and the hypnotherapist will not be able to make the client do anything beyond his moral and ethical values which are deep-rooted into his subconscious mind.  Such would include the unnecessary revelation of secrets, which would serve no purpose in the therapeutic relationship.  Apart from the strictly confidential nature of the therapy sessions, the perceived ability to obtain secrets from the client easily is a myth.  The client is very much in control during the session, even in the state of trance.

Eventhough hypnotherapy is a very powerful tool to make lasting changes, there is no such thing as a one time "miracle cure".  Every individual responds in their own way, and their progress will be at their own pace.  However, being a result-orientated form of therapy, hypnotherapy is driven by results.  Hence, the therapeutic approaches chosen for each session will be tailored to suit each individual to better the rate and speed of improvement.
